My Approach

Generally I will complete commissions from the studio using client photographs to work up the painting. This approach is tried and tested and is more flexible in terms of timings and budget. For those commissions intended to reflect life's bigger moments, I am available to paint on location or "from life" subject to prior agreement.

Agreeing the brief

There are several items I will always discuss with clients looking to commission a painting. To agree the scope of the commission we will cover the following items:

• Desired approach - painting on location / from life, or from the studio
• Subject and composition
• Size and orientation
• Colour palette and materials to be used, such as canvas, linen or board
• Timings
• Framing optionality
• Pricing and budget
